Botox.

Chances are, you’ve heard of it, but there are a lot of questions when it comes to receiving your first Botox treatment. Let’s break those down and uncover how Botox actually does its magic.

Botox is a neuromodulator protein injected into the skin used for many purposes, i.e. to alleviate soreness and discomfort, treat excessive underarm sweating, relieve jaw tension, eliminate headaches, and smooth wrinkles.

Basically, it’s a miracle working procedure that has a long list of health benefits. Before you rush to schedule your appointment, we’ve outlined the 6 things you need to know before your first Botox treatment in Fort Collins…

6 Things You Need to Know about Botox Treatments in Fort Collins

1. It’s safe & effective.

Over the years, Botox has become a staple in the beauty industry, but there’s still a lot of misinformation floating around. Here’s the truth: Botox is not a new or experimental treatment – in fact, it’s been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for almost 20 years now.

Rest assured – all of our Botox treatments are completely safe and extremely effective.

2. Consultations are a must.

Before you receive your first Botox in Fort Collins, you’ll need to set up a consultation with your medical aesthetician to discuss allergies, medical history, and how many units you’ll need to achieve your desired results. This way, you’ll know exactly what to expect, and we’ll know exactly what kind of Botox treatment to provide.

3. The cost of your Botox treatment in Fort Collins will vary.

Depending on your skin, age, desired results, and the location of your Botox treatment you may need more or less units of Botox.

For this reason, it’s not simple to answer, “How much does Botox cost?” as it truly does vary. However, on average, a person will need between 20-45 units, priced at $10-$11 per unit.

4. Your Botox treatment will be quick and painless!

At Facetté, your Botox treatment in Fort Collins will last about 30 minutes – including paperwork, prep, and injections!

During the treatment, you’ll feel a tiny poke and a very faint crackling noise when Botox is injected. After treatment, expect to see a little bit of redness around the injection site for about 15 minutes (please note: very rarely, clients may see a small bruise, though this is rare and only lasts a day or so). We recommend icing the area to reduce redness and make the injection site virtually undetectable.

There is no downtime and many clients receive their Botox treatment and immediately continue to run errands or return to work (and no one will even know, *wink*wink*). We just encourage that you avoid working out or heavy exercise for 24 hours after your Botox treatment.

5. Preparing for Botox injections.

Here’s what you can expect from your Botox treatment at Facetté Medical Spa.

  • We’ll start by completing some quick paperwork.
  • We will then have a complete consultation and assessment, discussing your goals and best ways to achieve them.
  • Next, we’ll cleanse the skin with alcohol.
  • When you’re ready to begin, we’ll use a tiny needle to inject Botox into the desired muscle (we offer a variety of comfort measures to those who have a fear of needles).
  • Afterward, we’ll apply a calming mini icepack to the injection sites to reduce redness and improve healing.
  • You’re on your way!

6. Results are quick, but not permanent.

Even though your Botox treatment will take effect quickly, the results will not appear immediately. Typically, it takes 3-10 days for Botox to relax the muscle and begin to create noticeably smoother and softer skin.

After 3-4 months, your body will begin to break down the Botox proteins, so you’ll need to come in regularly to maintain your skin’s smooth appearance.
