MED SPA TIPPING & ETIQUETTE

For plenty of businesses, tipping is normal, encouraged, and expected. But when it comes to aestheticians, stylists, and med spa services? Many aren’t sure what to do.

We don’t want this confusion to affect your experience at Facetté in any way, so we’ve outlined some common medical spa tipping and etiquette standards below to ensure you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in the front door to the moment you pay for your services.

Let’s break it down.

Medical Spa Tipping

While tipping isn’t expected, it is always appreciated! This extra payment shows your aesthetician or stylist that you are grateful for their time and value their level of expertise and training.

Hair Salon Gratuity

When receiving any kind of hair service – cuts, colors, styles, and more – it is common to tip 15% – 20% of the service cost (excluding product purchases, if applicable).

Med Spa Gratuity

Rather than tipping a percentage of the service cost like you might do at our hair salon, spa tipping can be more subjective.

Spa tipping for higher end services that cost $250 or more…

Many clients express their appreciation with a tip ranging from $20 – $75, depending on the expertise of the specialist and their experience as a whole.

As treatments can cost hundreds of dollars, we don’t require or expect percentage-based tips. The one-time sum is a great way to show your appreciation for your specialist, taking their time, experience, education, and skills into consideration.

For additional guidance, we’ve provided some specifics for spa tipping below:

  • CoolSculping: Tips can vary anywhere between $75- $100
  • Fountain of Youth: Tips can vary anywhere between  $25 – $50
Spa tipping for treatment packages…

Many med spa treatments are sold in packages, like laser hair removal, CoolSculpting, and more. In these instances, it can be difficult to determine spa tipping. For packages, you can tip upfront or tip per appointment – either is fine! Our team is happy to share the service total with you, separate from product purchases.

Note: We allow prepay to make your payment experience easier, and we accept tips through card or cash (cash is preferred).

Service Deposits

Deposit Policy

For certain hair services and med spa treatments, we do require a deposit to hold your appointment. This can range from $30 – $150, depending on the expected duration of your service.

The reason we require a deposit for laser hair removal, hair extension installations, permanent makeup, and more, is that it helps our stylists and aestheticians keep a regular scheduleand minimize cancelations.

If you make the appointment, pay the deposit, and receive the service as planned, your deposit simply goes toward your service provider. However, if you cancel the appointment, you may lose your deposit.

The deposit covers the time booked in the provider’s schedule, especially if they are unable to re-fill your spot.

Spa & Salon Etiquette

Appointment Dos & Don’ts

Do…
  • Leave the entourage at home

It’s important that our team members are able to provide you with the best service and focused attention as possible without distractions, so we ask that you come alone to your appointment.

If you have a friend or spouse who would also like a treatment or consultation, we advise them to schedule an appointment. We can try to accommodate a joint appointment or coordinate your appointments at the same time, if preferred and depending on scheduling and availability.

  • Show up on time or early

Arriving at the scheduled time is key to keeping the entire day on track. If you show up late for the spa or hair salon, this will impact the timing of your treatment.

  • Make your appointment preferences known

Whether you want a silent appointment or you just want to get some work done, we’re happy to accommodate as long as you set expectations upfront. We want our guests to be completely transparent, so we can give them the best experience.

Don’t…
  • Make last-minute cancellations

We understand that life is unpredictable, and you may need to cancel an appointment, but we ask that you give us as much time as possible to adapt. With additional time, we can re-book that appointment

  • Speak brashly about sensitive topics

Here at Facetté, we serve a wide range of clientele with varying opinions. In order to keep the salon and spa a comfortable and relaxing environment, we ask that you are respectful in conversation and avoid any potentially controversial topics.
